Working on Scott's monkey wood fin today for his balsa board. I cut out a template with a leftover foam tail piece, then stuck it on a sheet of glass and filled the bead with Iso resin. I then trued the bead template, foiled it, glassed the fin with sheets of 4oz, stuck it to the board then finished up with roving and glass.

Brad Rose has got a RSVP+ in the works here at the factory. This 9'3" is a bit more progressive than the standard RSVP. This board has a hard edge in the tail and can get buck loose if you want to get jiggy. In the glass shop now, this ride is going to sport the sweet colors.

So, I don't know what got in to me but... this is mine! It's been a really long time since I made a board for myself so I took a OLD Indy blank that was 10' and thick. I cut some nose off and some tail, shaped in more tail rocker with a wide diamond tail, thinned out the nose on the deck, squared off the nose and put a Rick NR style bevel in the nose that blended off to a rolled bottom with soft rails. I'm inspired to go surf!

Just picked up this new Slide Magazine. Tony Stephens made a big splash in a multiple page photo taken of him riding a Boarddesign IsIsh (5'9"). Photo taken by Ian Zamora at a local rocky tube. T-ride sent me a video text today of him getting tubed at the same spot while drinking a beer! Youth!?!

This is a new model I'm shaping called the RSVP. It's a squared nose, wide point forward, narrow pintail with lot's of foil and bevel. I'll finish it off tomorrow.

Here is a Double Wide I made for a friend of mine. It's 25 1/2" wide!!! This thing is HUGE and it's making me want to make more cuz it's COOL.

Two more to shape tomorrow then EVERYONE with a order in will be getting glassed up! Expect some pictures to be up on thursday or friday.

So, I was talking with my buddy RS today and amongst chatting he says his truck is broke down and he hasn't been able to go anywhere in a week. I asked him what the problem is and he explains that the spark plug wires were vandalized. I'm like "OK, put some new ones on". He tells me that he's got a mobile mechanic coming over tonight to take a look. No Way! I'll be over in 15. I get over to his house and take a look at his truck and sure enough the vandals are rats who left some nuts on top of his distributor and opted for wires instead. Bingo let's go get you some wires. We return from NAPA with the wires and I ask him "got some screwdrivers and tools"?

So, yeah... Got it fixed and RS is mobile again.

OK, thanks for all the patience! I'm back to work now and will be calling everyone who is in line waiting to get their boards. I had a great vacation and feel rejuvenated.

This weekend I was cleaning my garage and had to move all my wife's boards out of the way to get to my board rack. She is spoiled, I don't have a quiver like that and thats not all of them!

Here's a look at todays work...

I find surfboards to be a lot like ladies.. Sometimes they need a bit of kind words, some help to look pretty, to get through a rough morning... I had one that just didn't want to be a surfboard, fighting me every step. You get that from time to time as a builder but you must have patience and see it through the process. Some choose to not care and try to rush it but I am much like a mule and refuse to be beaten by a foam and plastic object. No, I win and my customers do to.

Many of you know my grandpa has been my biggest inspiration in my creative endeavors. He keeps a little 4"x7" drawing pad next to his favorite chair that he draws in daily, I used to love to flip through them and see what was on his mind.... portraits, doodles, random things, naked ladies... I found it inspirational as a kid and would break out a drawing pad and start my own. I didn't live real close to them (about 8 hrs) so when I was there I enjoyed every second. Little did I know at the time it was shaping my future.

Todays resin work in Pauls shed. I set these off with a bunch of catalyst and they didn't go off... good thing they had UV powder in them!! Shove them in the UV box and off to the races. Paul got wireless internet today, Yeah! I can now use my laptop over here to update. It's been a real fun trip so far, just shaping a lot and keeping busy. I did surf one day (it was epic) and hope to get back one more time if the weather let's me. It's different here how you have to be super hip to the forecasts, back home you can just go surf somewhere, you may have to drive to get it but.. here there is no chance unless mother nature is good to you. It's crazy windy here, I think "Ireland" actually translates to "windy" in some language, that or "feckin wet". I'm missing my family and look forward to finishing up and heading state side. Cheers!

I've been at it in my new shaping room Paul built me at his factory. It's not fancy but it's MINE! I've got it all organized and everything has it's place. The boards are coming out great and I've got Outer Point all squared away. I've done some customs for a few guys and get to see some more customers tomorrow to hammer out the details of what they want. Paul got some really nice foam to work with and I'm enjoying the Walker like feel that they have. Round two for the day... back out to the shed to shape some more.

Just finishing up some odd and ends here around the shop/house preparing for my trip to Ireland. I'm leaving Wednesday morning for twenty days. I hit up my buddy in Hood River Or a few day's ago for some old surfing shots of me up in those parts. He went searching for them and e-mailed me this. He took this of me in the backcountry of Mt Hood, it was a epic day of snow conditions. I lived near the mountain for a little over two years and had more great days than I can remember. My friend Kim and I would make runs together often, we had it wired. She made cookies and we knew all of the lift operators, wait in line.. hand them cookies... ride for free!! I miss you guy's up there and hope you are all doing well!

My buddy Jeremiah moved out to Texas to go to school for a year and brought his board with him (instead of leaving it with me like agreed upon... uhhhmmm!) because he loved it SO much. He is a personal trainer and quickly picked up work in his new hometown where he attained a new client Mr Sanders. Mr Sanders then invited Miah to head to the lake and wake surf with him (knowing Miah, he may have invited himself!) and now I'm designing wakesurf boards. Miah filmed a second of Mr. Sanders on his little strange board and e-mailed me it. I thought I would pass it on, he had NEVER stood on a surfboard. Enjoy.

So, as I am headed back out to Ireland on the 20th, I'm totally booked! There is a good chance I could start something when I get back for you if you put the word in now. I'm currently just doing my paperwork and lining up all orders for my return. I'll be taking a small vacation when I return so orders will not be started until the end of November. I'm currently at around 12 orders and I only do about 10 a month so..He who hesitates... don't get a board for Christmas! Just a few shots of Rosa's new (now used) 80's tri. It's got a tiny stinger channel bottom w/vee and a swallow cut in the deck only. She had allot of fun surfing it last friday and is welcoming new swell. It has a clear bottom, Burgundy deck with glass on fins in blue with yellow roving. A bit of yellow and blue baste and it's hamajang time!

Here are a few team returned used boards for sale. One is a 8'6" Fade2Black quad plus one, this is setup for 2+1 or quad use and works great as either. I'd say its a 6.5- 7 out of 10 for condition $600obo. The pintail is 9'3 and is a 8.5-9 out of 10 condition, single fin, great all around l/b $850obo. The F2B has repaired dings and is watertight, the pintail has never been dinged but has some foul language written on the bottom... nothing a sticker or two can't fix.

So, I was chillin at the beach yesterday when out of the corner of my eye I see some dude walking around with his two goats off leash in the walkway that goes along the waterfront. Dude was like not even paying any attention to them like they were some well trained dogs that you know are going to heel next to you. He just continued down the path with these two goats following. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and just stared at them like WTF? Later when I got out of the water and ate some food on a park bench, I saw them in the back of a truck and snapped a picture just to prove I'm not crazy!
